Why should we hire you for our wedding?

FIND answers to our most frequently asked questions

Because we will treat you like you are a part of our family. We guide our couples through the stress and chaos that is wedding planning. We help create your wedding day timeline together, we offer many wedding planning resources and tips via our website (just hop over to the blog), as well as being readily available over the phone, Skype, text, email, or in person - we are here for you.

We went through this exact process not all that long ago, so we understand what you're going through. We didn't have much assistance with planning, so we make sure our wealth of knowledge and our years of experience are resources for our clients.

We are also comfortable being problem solvers. If the timeline falls apart, if we get stuck in traffic, if it rains - we have your back, and you'll still have beautiful images. We've had to wrangle groomsmen, squish an hour of formals into 20 minutes, find cake cutlery, and everything in between. We work to ensure your day is exactly how you envision it. Our job is to take pictures for you, yes, but removing stress by a trusted resource so you can truly enjoy your day is a part of our job too.

Do You Edit All of Our Photographs?
Yes, we do! Every image you receive has been culled and hand-edited, one-by-one by us. Nothing we provide is bulk or mass-produced.

Where Do You Live and How Far Will You Travel
We live in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have traveled all over the U.S. for weddings, and are also happy to travel worldwide.

Travel is billed very simply - $800 for events over 200 miles. Additional charges for airfare as needed.

Do You Also Provide Video Services?
We are photographers that put our all into creating captivating images. Since our main focus is photography, we do not provide videography services. That being said, we have an extensive network, and are happy to refer you to videographers we trust!

Coverage & Travel

How Long Until We Receive Our Products and Photographs?
Online access to your galleries will be emailed to you within 8-10 weeks from the day of your wedding. Prints ordered from the gallery should arrive within 7 business days. Upon album approval, the album should arrive within 10 business days.

Are Our Digital Files Watermarked?
No, no, no. We give you all edited images, and they're yours to use however you'd like (for personal use that is). No files are ever watermarked.

How Many Pictures Will We Receive?
This number will vary greatly, and that's because it depends on many factors - the number of guests, hours of coverage, types of events, hours dancing, and so on. The average number of files we deliver to clients is between 750-1,000. Should you have concerns over the number of images, we'd love to hear more about your plans! This will help us be able to provide you with a more detailed estimate.

Do We Receive the Copyright to the Images?
Photographers like us offer a "print release" which allows the clients to print their photographs at any lab they choose. This is not the same as "obtaining copyright!" Copyright simply means we are the creators of the images, so we "own" the copyright. "Selling" or "obtaining" the copyright is simply not possible, but you will receive a print release so you can share and print your images as much as you'd like!

How Does the Album Design Process Work?
Wedding albums are one of the dearest possessions one can have, and we LOVE designing them for our clients! They are a tangible, beautiful record of the day you became a family. Life often gets in the way of creating these heirlooms, so we try to make this process as easy as possible!

We design an album for you to proof. This helps get the ball rolling, and for you to have a visual representation of what it can look like. You review the album online or in person, and you can make changes until it's exactly how you'd like it. Upon approval, your album is ordered and should arrive within 10 business days.

What Will My Album Look Like?
Our albums are modern, clean, and fresh. They will appear much like a coffee table book you would see at a bookstore. We offer an array of cover options, as well as casings the books can be displayed in. Keeping the design clean and classic, creating an heirloom for many generations, is our goal. We also offer matted albums if a more traditional style suits you!

Do Your Offer Engagement Sessions?
Yes, we do! We have three collections to choose from. We generally shoot local to the Charlotte, NC area, but are happy to accompany you wherever you prefer (certain travel fees may apply). We generally shoot engagement sessions around 3pm in the winter months, and 5pm in the summer months.

How Would You Describe Your Style of Photography?
We take a photojournalistic approach, but that's not to say there aren't any casually posed moments during a wedding day. We like to be as unobtrusive as possible. We may place you in flattering lighting for something like your first look, or for a few getting ready images, but overall we just let the moments unfold. There is, of course, a time and place for portraits of the couple together and of their families. Those we set up and photograph in a traditional portrait manner.

While we don't stop you and have you pose during the cake cutting, we do however ask for an hour (or more!) with you alone (if possible) to create images of you without guests or the wedding party looking on. We want you to be able to relax and be yourselves without the tension or attention of prying eyes.

We also strongly believe in preserving the details of the day; from the jewelry and shoes to the centerpieces and cake, our work is filled with detailed images (they're kind of our jam).

Our Style

Can We Provide You With A "Shot List"?
We send a questionnaire to our clients to learn what images you would like as far as family groupings. We prefer you not to provide us with a "shot list" or "must-have" pictures for your day. Having us work from a "checklist" is counterproductive, and we generally capture those images without prompting. Also note that long lists of college, high school, etc groupings, cause much of your reception to be concentrated on rounding up guests.

This also goes for providing us with images you have found on Pinterest (or anywhere on the internet). Lists of images hinder us from providing you with organic images from your day. We would much prefer to provide you with your own art rather than attempt to recreate someone else's.

Can You Hold a Date for Me?
Unfortunately, we can't hold a date or "pencil you in." Our business operates on a first-come/first-served basis in order to be fair to everyone. For your date to be reserved, we must receive a retainer and a signed contract.

What is the Payment Schedule?
A booking fee/retainer for a wedding is $1,000 is required to reserve your date. You are able to make payments anytime along the way, so long as the balance is paid in full 30 days before the wedding. We will send you email reminders when the time gets closer. We know you have a lot on your plate!

Can We Make Payments After the Wedding?
We do require full payment before the event. Of course, any payments for overtime, album upgrades, or anything outside of your originally chosen wedding package are due post-wedding. If you have any concerns about payment, please get in touch! We'd love to chat with you about them!

Business & Details

If I Cancel My Wedding, is the Retainer Refundable?
The retainer is non-refundable. The retainer guarantees that we reserve your date exclusively for you. Upon receiving the signed contract we turn down all other commissions for that date. Any excess monies paid beyond the retainer will be refunded in a timely manner.

When Should We Book You for Our Wedding?
ASAP, honestly. Since we operate on a first-come/first-serve basis, dates are booked... well, when they are booked. Most brides contact us within a year of booking. It's easy to predict popular dates for weddings, but it's not easy to predict when they will be booked!

If the Day Runs Late, Will You Stay Later Than Scheduled?
Absolutely! We do have an overtime rate, and it only goes into effect with your permission and approval. We will bill you for these hours when you return from your honeymoon.

Do You Offer Discounts for Off-Season or Non-Saturday Events?
Occasionally discounts are available. It depends on the time of year, travel schedule, and availability. If you have budgetary concerns, please contact us and let us know!

Do We Need to Feed You at the Reception?
It would be so kind if you did, but it's not a contracted requirement. We do prefer to be fed when you are fed, because let's be real: while you're eating you're not your most photogenic. When you're finished, we also want to be finished so we can continue your coverage without missing a beat. We do bring our own food and water to weddings, but a hot meal is always a lovely treat on a long workday!

Can Family and Friends Take Pictures With Their Cameras?
Of course! We do ask that they not swarm family photographs, as all eyes facing us in your images is important.

We do not, however, allow family and friends to come along for bridal portraits or images of you two alone. This is for privacy, and frankly, other people can be distracting!

We welcome other cameras during the cake cutting, reception dances, and the like. Just please ask politely that we do not get pushed out of the way, and that they respect our presence.
